“Cats leave paw prints on our hearts” Celebrate National Cat day with your favorite cat each and every day with a personalized blanket from Personal Creations
T.S. Eliot wrote poems about cats. And then Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote a musical about cats. I haven’t written poetry or a musical about my cats, but I am pretty crazy about them. And they are an important part of our family.
Growing up we tried out a few different pets. For a very short time we had a puppy. But she kept escaping from our backyard so she went to live with my grandparents. We also had a bunny rabbit for a time, but we ended up rehoming her as well. And once there were even turtles at our house. But the pet that was finally the right fit was a cat my parents got when I was in high school and his name was Hunter. He was a black and white cat that my middle sister named. She adored that cat. He ended up getting sick one time while she was in high school and away on a choir trip. She called home to check on her cat more than anything else. Oh, and she was in Italy. So yes, international calls (pre-call anywhere cell phones) to check on her beloved cat.
When my husband and I got married he had never had a pet cat. I don’t think he ever intended to have a pet cat. But after just a few months of marriage a sweet orange tabby stray cat showed up on our doorstep. I fed him. And he never left. We named our first pet Cosmo after the mascot of the college he had attended.
Since Cosmo we have had 3 other cats: Bear, Coco, and Ranger. Cosmo and Bear have both passed away and we still have Ranger and Coco.
My sisters have kept up the cat pet tradition as well. My middle sister currently has a cat named Hobbes (like Calvin and Hobbes). And my youngest sister has an orange tabby cat named Branson (from Downton Abbey). This is her sweet baby in the photos.
Her cat has moved with her across multiple states and is just the sweetest little thing. When Personal Creations contacted me about celebrating National Cat day I immediately said yes. We are cat crazy in our family. And to celebrate I asked for a photo of Branson to have it turned into a throw blanket.
I’m so excited for how it turned out! And while it looks great on my couch it will make an excellent gift for my sister.
