Turn a simple pair of flats into adorable DIY Cat Toe Shoes with this simple upcycle project!
I form sentimental attachments to inanimate objects. Especially clothing and accessories. I remember where I bought something or who gave it to me. Where I’ve worn the item. Vacations, date nights, fun times with friends and family. I’m also thrifty, and I love the chance to reuse or upcycle items.
These shoes are worn. Clearly. They’ve been to malls and camping. They have scuff marks and are dirty. And I was on the verge of throwing them away. But then I saw the cutest idea to turn them into cat toe shoes. And, since I am a crazy cat lady, I needed to make myself some DIY Cat Toe Shoes.
This was an easy craft that took less than an hour to make. Though I did let the shoes dry for 24 hours before wearing them.
Other than the worn out shoes I also used:
Tape
Black fabric paint
White fabric paint
Gray fabric paint
Paintbrushes in various sizes
Using some tape to create a straight line I painted the black cat face. Once it was dry I pulled up the tape and added the ears.
I used just a dash of white for the eyes with a dot of black. And then I used gray paint for the nose and whiskers.
Even with a fresh face lift these shoes won’t last too much longer. But I sure will have fun wearing them for as long as I can.

While reading your post I thought of animals a person could paint on a pair of white sneakers for instance. What a cool idea. Your kid could go to school every day with different animals on shoes. Maybe paint two different animals on one pair of shoes. Course your kid would need several pairs of shoes but what the hay huh? I’m on roll now, watch out. Your ballet flats are super cute with kitties on them. Could buy shoes at thrift stores to save money or a $store? Enjoy your adorable shoes. Happy weekend
