Aloha Welcome Mat

July 8, 2019 by Julie Leave a Comment

Say Hello to summer and your house guests with a DIY Aloha Welcome Mat

Aloha summer! Golden summer days mean one thing, I have pineapples and beaches on my mind. There is something about eating a sweet pineapple on a hot day that just brings joy to my soul.

I try to add in pineapples wherever I can during the summer. Whether it’s drinking some Sparkling Pineapple Lemonade, making a candy Pineapple Centerpiece, or crocheting a few Mini Pineapples that I can wear.

I have a friend who paints the cutest DIY doormats. It’s a craft I’ve been wanting to try, and when I found some plain doormats on sale the other day it was a quick decision to pick up a few.

Aloha Welcome Mat

Supplies

  • Pineapple stencil
  • Acrylic paint
  • Foam brush
  • Black marker

I’m combining a little stenciling with a little lettering to create my very own DIY Aloha Welcome Mat. Step one was to stencil the pineapple in the middle, which is also doubling as my letter O. I used an acrylic paint in the color island breeze to stencil my pineapple.

Don’t have a stencil? Print this one out!

Once the pineapple was stenciled, and dry, I could add in the rest of my lettering. I sketched out the letters with a black marker and then filled them in with some dark gray acrylic paint. (Want some help with the lettering? Print out these ALHA letters.)

With my welcome mat all painted the last step was to spray a clear sealant over the top!

My Aloha welcome mat is going to look perfect on the front porch alongside my Seashell Wreath.

Aloha!
