Are you planning a backyard get together this summer? Treat your guests to a beach themed party with a Watermelon Beach Pail and Beach Pail Party Cups

Watermelon Beach Pail

How do you cool down on a hot summer day? A dip in the pool is always nice. My family loves drinking ice cold Minute Maid® Lemonade. A cold slice of watermelon os always a crowd pleaser, too.

Living in Texas staying cool is a way of life. And if you’re planning a summer bash you’ll want to keep your guests refreshed as well.

I don’t happen to live anywhere near a beach. The closest one is probably 6 hours away. But I can still host a beach themed party this summer!

Cold drinks are a staple of a backyard party, and those drinks need a festive party cup. I’m going to turn colorful plastic cups into Beach Pail Party Cups. I printed out some paper ropes for the handles and created some plastic dots for securing the handles.

The plastic dots can be made a few different ways. You can melt plastic beads that are similar colors to your cups which is what I did. Place the beads on a cookie sheet lined with foil. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Some other options are to make dots using colored hot glue, glitter glue, or purchase colorful gems.

I cut out the paper rope handles and glued them to my plastic cups. Then I glued the plastic dots on top of the handle to make them look like knobs.

I headed to Kroger to pick up Minute Maid Lemonade and Sprite® for our beach themed party. I also picked up a watermelon for the party while I was at the store.

Buy any 2 Minute Maid or Sprite 2 liters and save $1 off your watermelon purchase at Kroger. Look for 2 liter toppers and tear pad with coupons for additional savings!

Once I had my drinks, and my watermelon, I could start turning that watermelon into a Watermelon Beach Pail. Mainly that meant that my watermelon needed to have a handle.

But first my watermelon needed to be able to stand up. I cut just a small wedge off the bottom to make it flat so that my watermelon could stand up. Then I used a piece of string, a ruler, and a marker to draw out where to make my cuts.

I wrapped the string around the watermelon to make a straight line around, just above the middle. I kept the handle at a 2 inch width from one side of my watermelon to the other.

Once my plan was drawn I could start cutting along the lines I had drawn, but making sure not to cut across the base of the handle. I cut the two sides off and then carved out the area underneath the handle.

With the handle exposed I grabbed my melon baller and started working on the rest of the watermelon. I cut out dozens of watermelon balls and even added in some cantaloupe as well. You could add as man varieties of fruit as you like!

Of course a beach pail needs to be filled up with treasures. Sp I put all the cut watermelon balls back into the watermelon beach pail for serving!

One last addition to my beach pail party cups were some shovel straws. Here I cut out a shovel handle from white cardstock and slipped my straw through it. Then I could fill up our beach pail party cups with Minute Maid!

These Coca-Cola beverages are fun refreshments for the summertime. They’re perfect to buy when you’re getting together with friends and family and pair well with summer recipes.
