For the past couple of years I have saved all the leftover yarn pieces from projects I knitted and crocheted throughout the year. I rolled them into one big yarn ball and used them for a variety of things. The first year I used it for my first ever yarn bomb project (here). Last year I used the yarn to make scarves that I left places anonymously, with a tag on them indicating that they were for someone who needed to stay warm (here).
This year I am once again making scarves, but with a new purpose.
One of my projects for the New Year is a new section in my Coco and Cocoa shop, titled Stitched Together. Stitched Together will be scarves (and possibly hats or other warm weather items) made from my project yarn, and all of the proceeds from the Stitched Together items will go towards adoption efforts. While I can stitch scarves, my hope is that the money that the items raise will be able to stitch together hearts and families.
Initially the proceeds from these items will benefit my youngest sister and her husband, who are at the starting point of the adoption process.
Hi! I’m Kara, and pictured with me is my handsome hubby, Skyler. We just celebrated our third wedding anniversary and are abundantly happy and in love. We also have a big announcement: We’re Adopting! This is our debut into the adoption world, and we are excited to share it with you! Skyler and I have long dreamed of having a diverse family, and we are eager to see how adoption will shape ours. We feel called to adopt for many reasons and already feel so much love for the child that will someday be ours as well as for the birth parents that will bring that baby into this world. One thing I’m sure you know is that adoption fees add up quickly, oftentimes requiring significant sums in a short period of time. In preparation for these necessary costs, Skyler and I will be fundraising in a variety of ways this year. Julie (whose blog you are reading) is my sister and has graciously offered to help us by selling items in her Etsy shop on our behalf. Stitched Together is our initial fundraising effort. All proceeds from Stitched Together will go directly to our adoption fund. Please take a look at this new corner of Julie’s shop, Stitched Together, and help us realize our dreams of adding to our family through adoption.I’m so grateful to have a supportive family, including the sweetest sister whose talents she is willing to share to help us with our dream of adoption.
No two Stitched Together items will be the same, each one completely unique. It will be constantly updated as new items are available, so check back often to see what’s new.
