Ready for a cool summer knit? This sleeveless mesh knit top is perfect for the warmer weather!
I was intimidated for a long time to try and knit clothes. Sweaters seemed so daunting. I worried about sizing and getting the right fit. Hats, scarves, even gloves were my happy place. But summer knit tops? Those could be sleeveless and breezy. And the perfect project for long summer nights.
Hot days need a loose knit top. This knit top features a broken ribbed bottom edge, a stockinette main body, and a mesh knit top. The blouse is primarily made in the round on a pair of 8mm circular needles. Only when you get to the bottom of the armholes are the top front and back separated.
The shoulder straps are made using a 3-needle bind-off. As written the pattern fits a women’s small size. But the pattern is easily adjusted for length and circumference. Think of the pattern as a guideline for you to make and adjust the sizing to your preferences.
Suggested cast on stitches
- Small: 110 (as written in the pattern)
- Medium: 140
- Large: 170
- X-Large: 200
Other than the pattern you will need
The knit top can be dressed up or down. The simplicity of the top means it pairs perfectly with a pair of shorts, but also looks great with a pair of slacks for a date night.
I knit this top in light gray, which is my go-to color when I’m trying out new patterns. It’s a great nude that goes with just about anything. And now that I have one in gray I’ve got some brightly colored stranded yarn that is up next. Ready to start knitting? Download the FREE pattern!
