The holidays can be busy, so how about a craft that uses just a few supplies, is simple to make, and has fairly endless decorating possibilities? Sounds pretty good, right?

These pipe cleaner Christmas trees are easy enough for kids, but cute enough that you’ll want to display them all over your house! Plus you can really use your imagination when it comes time to decorate.

Pipe Cleaner Christmas Trees

Supplies

  • styrofoam tree forms
  • green pipe cleaners
  • hot glue or tacky glue
  • white pom-poms optional
  • faux snow optional

The first step is wrapping the pipe cleaners around the styrofoam trees. I used hot glue to attach the end of the first pipe cleaner and then started wrapping. I used additional dabs of glue at the start and end of each additional pipe cleaner. Just keep wrapping until the entire foam tree is covered!

While I used hot glue you could use a tacky glue if you are doing this with kids. Just be patient as you start each new pipe cleaner and make sure it’s attached.

I really like the way these look just plain green. In fact you can see several of them with some crochet wreath ornaments I made. But, they also look cute decorated as well! You could attach fun colored mini pom-poms to look like ornaments. I decided to make mine snowy.

I attached a white pom-pom to the top of each tree. On one of the trees I wrapped around the tree with some white thread, again securing the beginning and ending of the thread with hot glue.

For the third tree I dabbed mod podge all over and then covered it in faux snow. My trio of snowy Christmas trees!
