Deck the halls, and your tree, with these DIY Mini Vintage Wreaths! Crochet Wreath Ornaments are a cozy craft perfect for the holidays.
I love yarn and crochet wreaths, especially in the fall and winter. They’re just so cozy! Every year I make handmade ornaments to put on my tree and give as gifts. This year I’m making Mini Vintage Inspired Crochet Wreath Ornaments.
When I found these foam wreath bases I knew they needed to be turned into cozy crochet wreaths.
Crochet Wreath Ornament Supplies
- Foam mini wreath
- Bulky Yarn
- Large crochet hook
- Assorted items for decorating
- Hot glue gun and hot glue
The first step was to crochet around the mini wreath. I made a slip knot and then did simple single crochet stitches over the wreath base. Crochet all the way around, knot off the end, and weave in the tail. It’s as simple as that!
The fun part comes when you start decorating the crochet wreath. I gathered up an assortment of items including mini pine cones, mini bottle brush trees, faux flowers, pom poms, pipe cleaner, twine, glitter reindeer embellishments, and small toys.
I wanted them all to be slightly uniform, knowing I was decorating one of my small trees with just these vintage wreath ornaments, so I did a bit of greenery at the bottom of each one.
I love how the trees look covered in the mini wreath ornaments! Have fun and personalize each wreath. This was something the kids could all help with.
We decorated this mini bottle brush tree with pom-poms and twine.
We made a cardinal ornament with some mini pine cones from our trees.
We made a wreath with red flowers and red pom-poms. I found an old mini toy train that we used for another wreath. To make the train more Christmas-y we added some ‘snow’ and made a wreath for the train out of a pipe cleaner, twine, and pom-poms.
Littlest goes to a fine arts school where they learn a lot of instruments. He is learning to play ukulele. I know this is a guitar and not a ukulele, but it’s still cute. The guitar was originally a mint candy metal container. I used just the top half for my wreath, and added a festive bow with twine.
Cozy Holiday Party
You need a few more details to really trim the tree and celebrate the holiday season. I recently got together with two of my favorite bloggers for a little holiday cheer.
Shannon at Everyday Best but together these DIY Christmas Tree topiaries! Head over to her blog to see how she put together this Dollar Store Christmas Decor.
Chastity at A Cowboy’s Life put together a Hot Chocolate Dessert Board with the cutest peppermint spoons ever. This would be so fun to serve while you watch holiday movies. Head over to her blog for all the details on this hot chocolate charcuterie board.

Fa-la-la-la-la! With the house all decorated I’m ready to spread Christmas cheer. These ornaments are going to make such fun little gifts, I’ve made dozens so I can give them to everyone. (They’d even be cute gift toppers!)
