Meet Harold

March 2, 2015 by Julie 12 Comments

Grey knitting background of handmade woolen pattern

1. My sisters name everything. They name their cars. My youngest sister Kara named her violas in high school. On the other hand, I am terrible at naming things. Which means that I just last week named my car. The one that I bought two years ago. My car is purple, and I started by calling it the purple people eater. Youngest Twin was not impressed and frankly told me that the name was too long. I countered that the car ‘eats us’ when we get into it. He didn’t buy it. So then my thought process was as follows Purple car —> Purple —> Harold and the Purple Crayon —> Harold. Therefore, my cars name is now Harold.

snow day fun

2. I keep saying this, but I’m still amazed. There is snow/ice on the ground. In Texas. In March. AND we could get more this week. Next week is spring break. Spring break is warm. This is not warm. My brain is not computing.

snow letters

3. On Friday during the snow Littlest told me he saw letters outside. This was our view.

4. It’s Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’ birthday. I’m not reading anything more interesting than textbooks recently. But I am having Oldest Twin read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. And I did snag a couple of new books at my Book Swap party last weekend that I am excited about. Are you reading anything good?

5. Today is also Texas Independence Day. The twins are learning about Texas History in school this year so I think I should make a Texas Sheet Cake to celebrate. Because chocolate.

Right?! I remember it snowed here on Valentine’s Day one year and we thought that was late. I could not believe how much snow we got on Friday. And when there was still snow/ice on the ground yesterday I felt like I needed to pinch myself.

Hello! Thanks for sharing this at Wherever Wednesday! You know, funny thing is, that I didn’t know Monday was Texas Independence Day. I’m from California so the only reason I know about Texas Independance Day at all is that my children (the ones in Public School) always have a Texas Round-Up Day where they do fun Texas and western stuff. It was March 5th…so of course I thought March 5th was TX Independence Day. I even am planning a Texas themed lesson for my homeschooled son that day (though obviously not anything about TX independence, or then I would know, huh).

Eh, it’s ok…I guess March 5th is as good a day as any to learn about TX state Symbols.

Hi! I was really excited to link up this week. My homeschooler is in 7th grade this year, which is when they study Texas History. So we’ve been talking about Texas a lot 😉

My husband names his cars too. The name of the one we currently have is Darla. I have no idea where he got that name from.

A cold spring break. That is going to make for an interesting story down the line.

I sort of see the letters that Littlest was talking about.

I love to read. Although I haven’t picked up a book lately. I’ve got to change that

I think by next week it’s supposed to be in the 60’s (fingers crossed!) I’m hoping for a pretty spring break.
And though I love to read I haven’t been able to do much fun reading lately, it’s all been for school.
