Upcycle your empty nail polish bottles in DIY Bud Vases
I feel like I can never have too many vases. Especially bud vases. I don’t know about your kids, but mine have always loved picking flowers. Especially when they are little. Whether at the park or in our backyard. But they are usually small and need small vases. While I had plenty of large vases I never had mini bud vases on hand. Instead of leaving another token from them on the counter to wilt I decided to DIY my own bud vases.
The best part? These upcycled vases are made from empty bottles of nail polish! And they are the perfect size for flowers picked by my kids.
To prep the bottles first I made sure they were completely empty. To do this after they were ’empty’ from painting my nails I let them sit upside down for 24 hours to really make sure they were empty. This also allowed any polish along the inside to harden.
Once they were empty and dried out I started painting them. While you could spray paint your bottles I wanted the kids to be able to help me. So I grabbed a couple bottles of paint that are made for painting on glass. Then we grabbed some foam brushes and got busy!
It took a few coats but I love how they turned out! (I will say that the white really only worked on bottles of light colored nail polish. The gold was great on the bottles with darker colors.) The paint we used included instructions on how to cure it as well.
To finish them off I used some yarn to wrap around the tops of the vases.
And now I have several new vases to store pretty hand picked flowers!
How cool are those! What a great idea, I would’ve never thought of this.
Thanks, Leslie! I love that they are the perfect size
Those are so cute and what a great idea to use nail polish containers! Plus I love the gold!
Thanks, Kim! Yes, I am a major gold lover.
Super cute. I’d never thought about re-using my nail polish bottles!
Thanks, Joyce! I do love projects where I get to reuse things π
This looks much easier than I thought it would be! And they turned out so cute! My daughter loves to pick flowers for me too and these would be perfect!

Thanks, Whitney! I was looking at bud vases and realized they were the same size as an empty nail polish bottle I had tossed out. Then, voila!
This is a great way to use that last little bit of polish! SO smart! =)
Thanks, Miranda! Now I’m eyeing nail polish bottles to see which has the best shape for a possible future vase.

This is a great way to reuse nail polish bottles – I think I would even spray paint them!
Thanks, Caitlin! And yes, spray painting would give them a much smoother look. I might do that next time (when I’m not having the kids help me).
How sweet is that! My daughter is always picking flowers & arranging them. These little vases would be a great craft for her.
Thank you! This would be a great craft to display her flowers and one she could help with!
Those would be cute for the four leaf clover I am going to find someday. π Or for the little poseys my son picks me. π
Thanks, Rosey! I’m still looking for my four leaf clover, too!
Ok this is the cutest best idea!!! I am definitely doing this!!!
Thanks, Jessica! I hope you have fun with it!
Those are too cute. I’ve been buying flowers from the market frequently to spruce up the house.
Thanks!! We started having flowers bloom around here this week and I’m so excited to have more fresh flowers in the house.
These are small & super cute, but they bring a lot of pretty. Thanks for posting. Sharing on my social pages. Lots of love, Princess Mousey/Lisa
Thanks, Lisa!! And thanks for all the social media love!
This is a great idea, especially cheap if you have old nail polish bottles.
Exactly! Love an inexpensive craft π Thanks, Ashley!
I love the gold. when i was looking at them and thinking what else you could use them for and I thought you could put like those little birthday candles in them and you would have a candle. π
Now I feel terrible for all the nail polish bottles that I have tossed!
Fun idea!
