Back to Being a 2 Car Family

February 18, 2015 by Julie Leave a Comment

new car

For the past year and a half, since we moved to Fort Worth, we have been a 1 car family. My husband has a motorcycle that he drives to work and I generally get to keep the car to drive the kids around in.

Going down to one car was a choice that we made when we moved based on parking choices available to us. But having only one car has become more problematic lately and this week we took the plunge and got a new to us 2nd car.

My husband actual picked out the ‘station wagon’. He has plans for loading it up with camping gear. The kids all think it’s super cool because it has a sun roof.

Another motivating factor with getting a second car is that the boys will be driving before I’m ready for it. And this new to us car is very far from a ‘new’ car. It’s 15 years old and has quite a few miles on it. Meaning it will also double as a project car for my husband and the twins. On our second day of owning it my husband was already having the twins help him give it an oil change and inspecting the brakes on it.

Youngest Twin in particular is really excited about being able to work on the car with his Dad. And I’m thankful for a husband who knows how to work on cars and is excited to teach those skills to his sons.
