What do you do when you see a t-shirt with a fabulous saying on it that you just can’t get out of your head? You commit to it with counted cross stitch. This particular cross stitch phrase is also a sweet, romantic Valentine’s Day idea.

You, Me, Oui. I love some word play and this was brilliant. When you say it out loud it sounds like ‘you me we’, but then it means ‘you me yes’. Oui, pronounced like we, is French for yes.
My parents both speak French, though they didn’t teach it to me or my sisters. My Dad lived in Belgium for a few years and my Mom studied French in college. The best I can do is count to 10, say a few words, and sing a song about a bird. After seeing the phrase on a t-shirt my husband’s cousin was wearing I couldn’t get it out of my head.
You + Me = Oui
A fun addition to this cross stitch would be the addition of a plus sign and an equals sign. You plus Me equals Oui. (Aka, you plus me equals yes.)
This isn’t the first time that I’ve made some fun stitched Valentine’s. I also have these punny embroidered Valentine’s. Take some of your favorite sweet puns, like ‘cute as a button,’ and stitch it onto a hoop with a heart made of buttons.
Back to You, Me, Oui. We were in Twin Falls, Idaho last summer visiting family when I saw one of my husband’s cousins wearing t-shirt with the phrase. After coming home I couldn’t get the phrase out of my head. I knew I needed it displayed in my office.
Valentine’s Day crafts aren’t just for kids. In fact, Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays to make crafts. From Galentine’s Day parties with friends to make treats for my kids to take to school.
Not only is the you, me, oui phrase beautiful and whimsical, but seeing it near my desk reminds me of the trip I took where I saw the phrase as well.
