Set the table with Pumpkin Pom-Pom Thanksgiving Name Cards
Holidays are better with a little bit of yarn. Yarn Pom-Poms are one of my favorite yarn projects to make. I’ve used them for garlands, to make flowers, for gift wrapping, and now they are front and center on my Thanksgiving table.
I have some crochet and knit pumpkins that I made, but they were a little big to use for name cards. However, they do look great as part of my table centerpiece decorations. Yarn Pom-Poms are great because I could make them in a variety of sizes.
Pom-Pom Pumpkin Supplies
- Orange yarn
- Sticks
- Pipe cleaners
- Green craft felt
- Paperclip
If you have a pom-pom maker you can use it to create your pom-poms, but all you really need is some yarn and your hands. You simply wrap the yarn around your fingers and tie it. Snip the ends and then trim and shape your pom-pom.

How to Make Pom-Pom Pumpkins
Once your orange pom-poms are made it’s easy to turn them into pumpkins with a craft stick. If you want you can also add a pipe cleaner vine and a green felt leaf. Or make a variety of different pom-pom pumpkins for your table!
To turn your pom-pom pumpkins into name card holders the last thing you need is either some wire or a paper clip. If you use a paper clip, straighten it out and then use some pliers to curl one end 2 to 3 times.
The curled end is what will hold your name cards!
I whipped up these Thankful for name cards that I could print and trim. Then it’s easy to write in each persons name on the name card.
Place your Pumpkin Pom-Pom on your place setting so your guests know where to sit! It’s also a sweet way to let everyone at the table know you are thankful for them.
