Upcycle challenge: clothespins

August 28, 2012 by Julie Leave a Comment

This months Etsy Fort Worth upcycle challenge is clothespins.

Part of the fun of these challenges, for me, is just trying to use what I have already on hand. I only had 5 clothepins in the house so that meant that I was a little limited in what I could make.

I also think clothespins are really useful and I didn’t want to make something where I had to take them apart or make them not work anymore.

So in the end, I decided to basically decorate mine. I had seen lots of clothepins that were painted or covered in papers, but none that were wrapped in yarn. So that’s what I did.

This picture only has two clothespins in it, but I actually used three. My other supplies were white spray paint, my hot glue gun, and some fall colored yarns.

I simply spray painted my clothespins white

And then wrapped them in yarn

Each one in a different color

My cat Ranger wanted to help

I’m going to use them to close (and dress up) a bag full of goodies that I’m taking to a friend
