I remember loving a good scavenger hunt/treasure map search as a kid. But as a parent sometimes creating the map is the hardest part. Not any more.
I started by using Google Maps to find a satellite photo of the park near our apartment building. I took a screen shot of the park and then put it into a photo editing program where I changed it to black and white and lightened it. Print it on some manilla paper and you’ve got yourself a pretty authentic looking treasure map where X marks the spot!
You could make your path in a program on your computer or hand draw it out after you print it. Then I rolled ours up and stuck it in a glass bottle for Littlest. (You could even have them find the map before you start.)
I love that I can use this method to create a map of anywhere. Grandma’s yard for an Easter egg hunt. A scavenger hunt at a different park. So many options!
