Last week was the National Teacher Appreciation week. I’m involved with the PTA at the twins school and my particular job is related to teacher appreciation and so I’m the one in charge of teacher appreciation week. This year I went with a Red Carpet/Movie Star Theme.
I started on Monday by decorating our teachers lounge with big red stars and movie decorations (think “Lights”, “Camera”, “Action”) and a big sign that said “Stars Lounge”. I even put a red carpet down for them to walk on. On Wednesday we did our big lunch for all the teachers. Movie themed food (hot dogs and the works). Then on Friday we did a small gift for all the teachers and staff. A book mark. That sounds simple right?
I cut out all the bookmarks (160 pieces for the 80 bookmarks) and then punched the stars in half of them. Then I cut out squares from the fabric I picked out, red and white fabrics to fit with our schools colors. Then I used some spray adhesive to glue the fabric squares to the cut out side of the bookmarks and then some more to glue both sides together.
Unfortunately I can’t seem to remember to take pictures of things so I only have this one shot. I was amazed at what a difference rounding the corners made.
After all the cutting, punching, and gluing my final step was to stamp a note at the bottom that said “You’re a Star” and on the back “Teacher Appreciation week 2010”.
They turned out really nice and the teachers all seemed to like them!
