Easy Yarn Crafts: A Tassel Wall Hanging and Pom-Pom Flowers

August 27, 2018 by Julie Leave a Comment

Don’t knit or crochet? No problem! Here are two easy yarn crafts that only need your fingers! Come make a yarn pom-pom flower and yarn tassel wall hanging.

While I love to share knit and crochet patterns, there are plenty of yarn projects you can make that don’t require any skills or really any tools. For these two easy yarn crafts all you need is some yarn and your fingers (and a pair of scissors).

Yarn Tassel Wall Hanging

There is something so cozy about home decor projects made with yarn. I’m personally obsessed with yarn wall hangings. I changed things up a little by making mine a Yarn Tassel Wall Hanging.

Here’s the video for how to make the tassels, and how I attached the tassels to my stick.

This stick in the finished picture is one from my yard that I sanded down. In the tutorial video I used a craft stick that I bought at the store. By tying the tassels to the stick in varying lengths you could make all kinds of different patterns and designs.

Yarn Pom-Pom Flowers

Another yarn craft that is perfect for non-knitters and crocheters are pom-pom flowers. I made two pom-poms, pushed them onto the ends of some floral wire (no gluing), and placed them in a bud vase.

Here’s a quick video on how to make the flowers!

Just a couple of notes, I wrap the yarn around all four fingers when I make these pom-poms. I also wrap the yarn around my fingers about 100 times. (Yes, I usually count.)

When you’re tying the yarn around the center of the pom-pom I like to go around twice before pulling tight, it really helps to secure the knot.

And when you’re trimming and shaping your flower the closer you get to the center of the pom-pom the denser your flower will be. You can make your flower as dense or shaggy as you want. It’s all about what you like!

While I’m using one color in the photos for the flowers and yarn wall hanging, you don’t have to limit yourself! Make the flowers in two different colors. Make the wall hanging in a rainbow of colors. The possibilities are endless. You could even dip dye your tassels.

Fall is a great time for yarn crafts, and these are perfect for any skill level! What yarn craft are you excited to learn?
