Pinterest Fab or Fail: Food Edition

August 27, 2015 by Julie 14 Comments

I like to eat. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that many of the things I try on Pinterest are recipes. While some of them turn out great, some, well, don’t.

Here’s just a few of my favorite Pinterest recipes attempts that I’m calling Pinterest Fab or Pinterest Fail.

Pinterest Fab or Pinterest Fail

Pinterest Fab

Several of the desserts I have tried have become recipe staples, including

  • Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars (I have made these a few times)
  • Sopapilla Cheesecake
  • Pumpkin Cheesecake Muffins/Cupcakes (but if I call them muffins I can eat them for breakfast)

I’ve tried a few dinner recipes as well

  • Honey Lime Tilapia Recipe (my kids LOVED this)
  • Roasted Butternut Squash Soup (I actually didn’t make this one, but I did get to eat it!)

Pinterest Fab or Pinterest Fail

Pinterest Fail

Chocolate waffle cookies (or wookies). These were actually a fab and a fail. The first time I made them at my house they were great. When I tried to replicate them at my Mom’s they were a flop. Same recipe, even the same waffle iron (I took mine to her house). Completely different results. So I have to say try at your own risk.

Nutella Banana Bread. This was okay. If I made it again I would want to tweak the recipe a bit. I didn’t think that it was sweet enough and the Nutella flavor wasn’t very strong.

Have you tried some fab Pinterest recipes? What about Pinterest recipe fails? Share below!

Pinterest – such a blessing and a curse! I love when recipes are a winner but the failures make me super frustrated. But your failures still look pretty amazing!

Julie, what a great idea! I have had my share of Pinterest fabs and Pinterest fails. I love going to the Pintrosity website and laughing until I cry. By the way, your blog is awesome. Great design. It’s really cute!

Love the sound of those chocolate peanut butter bars. I have no skills in the kitchen so all of mine would be fails, but my partner is amazing at cooking so I shall get her to get involved!

I love Pinterest, but it is always a bummer when a popular pin ends up a fail! I’ll have to check out your fabs though! They look great!

This is a great post. I don’t make nearly as many Pinterest recipes as I should. Or I start with them for inspiration and the get way off base before it’s done. I guess I just don’t follow directions well. The nutella bread would have never been attempted in my house, can’t stand the stuff (blasphemy I know).

Pinterest is like my arch nemesis. I always want to try all of the delicious recipes but half of them always fail for me! I guess the super yummy ones make up for it:)

Thank you for sharing your failures as well as your triumphs. I have made some pretty epic Pinterest fails and I’m not sure I’m brave enough to share them. 🙂

One of my Pinterest fabs was ice cream bread – literally just ice cream and flour (very cold dough!) & then you bake it. We used a brownie swirl ice cream and it was delicious!
