I experienced something new this weekend, my very first NASCAR race!
I have to say, for a girl who loves knitting and crafts, it was pretty spectacular. Texas Motor Speedway is about 20 miles from where we live in downtown Fort Worth. We took Youngest Twin and made a day out of it. Pre-race we got to walk on the track, walk through pit road, see the cars go through inspections for the race, get pretty up close and personal with the drivers, and there was even a concert!
I didn’t know nearly all of the drivers, but I did recognize at least these three: Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Jeff Gordon. This weekends race was the Duck Commander 500, so a lot of the guys from Duck Dynasty were out at the race track as well.
Gentlemen start your engines!
It was a night race, so we got to watch the end of the race under the lights. Our tickets came with a scanner headset rental, which made the race a lot more enjoyable. The headsets helped with how loud the racetrack was, and we could flip between stations where we could listen to the drivers talking to their teams or the broadcast announcers.
When the winner crossed the finish line there was a fireworks show!
