Are you getting your Mom flowers for Mother’s Day? Me, too! Kind of.
If you’ve been a reader here for a little while, then you know how much I love yarn bombs. With Mother’s Day coming up, and a prime flower buying holiday, I thought a flower yarn bomb would be perfect! I’m doing a combination of crochet red poppy-like flowers and some pink crocheted flowers. Each flower is crocheted and then I hot glued a button into the center.
Once the flowers are crocheted it is time to attach them to the plant stakes. I’m using the stakes so that I can ‘plant’ them in a front yard. I used hot glue and then reinforced that with 20 gauge stem wire, poking the wire through the flower and then around the stake. I also like the added dimension that the wire gives.
One advantage of flowers made out of yarn is that they will never wilt. After the flowers have been ‘planted’ the recipient could ‘pick’ them and put them in a vase.
I have already crocheted quite a few flowers, but I plan on making many (many) more to get ready for Mother’s Day.
If you’d like to see my crochet one of the poppy flowers you can see the video HERE.

Do you have instructions of how to crochet these yarn bombs?

Hi Charlene! I used this flower pattern
https://juliemeasures.com/bloom-embroidery-hoop-crochet-flower/
For the pink flowers I only made 6 petals, and for the red flowers I used black yarn in the center and then only added two layers of petals. If you want more details than that just let me know!
