Is it weird if a Christmas ornament inspired a new hat? Awhile ago I made these really cute Granny Square Crochet Ornaments. Since then I’ve been playing around with more granny square projects. I’ve made a Granny Square bag and a Granny Stitch Bandana Scarf.

I was going through my yarn stash and happened to pull out three balls of yarn together. A light gray, a cool brown, and a ball of black yarn. I immediately knew I needed to make a hat with all three colors. I remembered the stripes from my granny stitch crochet ornaments and decided to use the same idea and create a Granny Stitch Crochet Hat.

Materials

  • Size H/5mm crochet hook
  • Medium weight yarn

While you could make this Granny Stitch Hat all in the same color, I decided to use a 3 color striped pattern.

  • Color A – Black
  • Color B- Brown
  • Color C – Gray

So my pattern was A – C – A – B – A – C – A – B – A – C – A – B – A – C – A.

I worked my ribbing all with color B.

What color combinations will you use for your hat?

      Hi Pam,
The download is intended to be a convenient way for you to print the pattern and have it easily accessible on one page. The free download should not take you to any other page, it’s just here on my website.
If you prefer I’m happy to directly email you a PDF version of the pattern.
      Best,
      Julie
