A simple golf themed table centerpiece idea for a party or luncheon
I’ve talked a little bit here on the blog about how last year I joined the Junior League in my city. I feel like for many things in my life there is a season for different adventures. This season is when I have the time and energy to volunteer with Junior League. So far it has been incredible experience and something that I would recommend researching where you live. This week we held a fundraising luncheon. Our theme this year is abuse prevention and all funds raised go towards that goal. As part of the luncheon members could sign up to decorate one of the tables and serve as the host for the table. My friend Jenni and I, who head up the golf fundraiser this year, decided to decorate a table. Since we’re the golf committee chairs we naturally went with a golf theme. It served as a great reminder that our event is coming up soon!
But then the question was, how do I decorate a golf themed table? Luckily I just happen to have a roll of indoor/outdoor green carpet that I’ve used for some other astro turf crafts. That became the foundation for the table. We borrowed a set of kids golf clubs and used the bag as a vase. Because we didn’t want to harm the bag we just used silk flowers for our table. Our motto this year is aiming for impact, which inspired the cross-stitch arrows. They also double as golf course direction signs.
At each place setting there was a mason jar filled with river rocks and a white hydrangea bloom. These were gifts for our table guests to take home. I also made a golf themed thank you note for each of them for attending the luncheon. Those read, ‘Thanks fore being tee-rrific’ to really emphasize our golf theme with some puns. The cake stand that held the cupcakes during the luncheon worked great to rest the arrow canvas against. And the finishing touch were napkins that I folded to look like pinwheels.
I didn’t want things to get too crowded because once our guests and food arrived I wanted there to still be room. I had thought I’d put some golf balls and tees sprinkled throughout the centerpiece, but in the end we got some green and white mints and after dinner chocolate mints and sprinkled those over the grass for our guests to eat after the meal. It was a lovely luncheon and I was so happy with how our golf table turned out!
Because each table was decorated individually we ended up with a room full of fabulous table ideas! I had to share them all with you. Did you guess the theme of the ‘B’ table? Your hint is bees + lemonade.
Those are champagne flavored candies in the cups of the middle photo! The New Orleans themed table DIY’d those towels and glasses and gifts for her guests.
The beach themed table has little pufferfish in her ‘coral’.
These two tables highlight some city specific things we’re proud of: The Dallas Cowboys, the Rangers, Six Flags Over Texas, the Dream city, UT Arlington, and more.
And a look around the room at all the tables before the luncheon started. This was our first year for this event and we’re already planning to repeat it next year. Any idea’s for my table theme next year?
