Bunny Gloves for Some ‘Bunny’ Special

January 25, 2017 by Julie 1 Comment

Bunny Gloves to match my Bunny Hat pattern! Get both to make a matching set

Bunny Gloves Knit Pattern

The very first pet I ever had was a bunny rabbit. My Dad named him Buns. Honestly, I can’t remember why. Maybe short for bunny? My Dad is king of nicknames, my sisters and I each have several if not dozens. A lot of knitters and crocheters have any affinity for rabbits, some even raise angora rabbits for their fur. I have cats, so no pet rabbits for me any more. But I still find them incredibly adorable with their long ears and fluffy tails.

I got into a hat making frenzy in the fall, dreaming up new cable patterns, and it all started with a request for a bunny hat. My bunny hat featured alternating front and back facing bunnies. Complete with paws for the front facing bunnies and a little bunny tail for the back facing bunnies. But I love offering full sets for my designs so it was time to create the gloves. To go with the hat I wanted one glove to have a forward facing bunny and one glove to have a backwards facing bunny.

My left glove features the forward facing bunny with his little paws to great you. And the right glove features the backwards facing bunny with his little tail sticking out. While I added button eyes and an embroidered nose to my bunny hat, for the moment I like my gloves as they are. I used a more heathered yarn and I like the interest it creates in the gloves. You can see the bunny hat complete with button eyes and an embroidered nose here. There are purl stitches where the eyes are on the front facing bunny that does give them some definition (that is easier to see in person).

Perfect for snow bunnies or if you want to show some ‘bunny’ that you care! Sorry, I can’t help myself with the puns.

The pattern uses 5mm double pointed needles and medium weight yarn. Gauge and other details are listed on the page with the pattern. As always you can email me with any pattern related questions at juliemeasuresblog@gmail.com.
