Ready for the holidays? Discover Family Friendly Holiday Fun in Arlington, Texas
The holiday season is full of events and parties to attend. Ornament exchanges, cookie exchanges, and holiday parties are all on the calendar.
Don’t forget about taking the kids to see plenty of holiday lights. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area there isn’t a shortage of fantastic Christmas light displays. Discover all the fun and family friendly places to enjoy Christmas in Arlington!
Arlington, Texas is home to Six Flags Holiday in the Park, the Texas Christkindl Market, Decorator’s Warehouse (the largest indoor Christmas store in Texas), and, more holiday light displays.
Six Flags Over Texas
Holiday in the Park is easily my favorite time of year at Six Flags Over Texas. With thousands of twinkly lights, festive decorations, and tasty treats, plus your favorite amusement park rides, it really is the most wonderful time of the year!
It’s not a holiday trip to Six Flags without a slide down the snow hill (often the only snow hill available in the Dallas / Fort Worth area!) I have been taking my kids for an annual snow hill run for many years. Other Holiday in Park traditions include funnel cake and hot chocolate.
The snow hill will not be a part of the 2021 Holiday in the Park experience, but fingers crossed it’s back in 2022!
Decorators Warehouse
Decorator’s Warehouse is the largest Christmas decor store in Texas, and it’s located in Arlington, Texas. Open year round, Texas’ #1 Christmas Store offers countless options for Christmas decor including a wide array of Christmas ornaments, tree ribbon, Christmas flowers and sprays, and so much more.
Campo Verde
Inside of this Tex-Mex restaurant is a Christmas Extravaganza. If you’ve never visited at Christmas you are missing out. Kids and adults of all ages will love this spectacular display with over 120,000 lights, 3,000 yards of multicolor garland, 50 Santa Claus’s, 30 xmas trees, and two model trains that travel 635 feet throughout the entire restaurant. Plus it’s a restaurant! Coming here is an annual family tradition.
Elf on the Shelf
New in 2021, Elf on the Shelf is an open-air experience located at Choctaw Stadium (formerly Globe Life Park). Join the elves on a quest to collect the ingredients for Christmas Spirit. You and your elf-loving crew will ‘magically’ shrink down to elf size and embark on a journey through twinkling wonderlands to set Santa and Christmas back on course.
Texas Christkindl Market
Inspired by a German tradition, Arlington, Texas, is home to one of the largest open-air holiday markets in the southwest. Fitting since Arlington is sister cities with Bad Königshofen in Germany. The family friendly event boasts authentic German treats, holiday beverages, live music, children’s activities and more. You can also shop from vendors selling handmade delights alongside authentic German products like nutcrackers and cuckoo clocks.
In 2021, the Texas Christkindl Market is a free event also located at Choctaw Stadium (formerly Globe Life Park). Walk through the Market before heading into the paid Elf on the Shelf experience.
“Fragile…Must be Italian”
Want to know what I’ll be wearing to all of the above events? This fantastic Fragile Ugly Christmas Sweater.
In fact, I told my family to get really used to me wearing this sweater, but it’s going to be my attire of choice this month. Decorating gingerbread houses? Yep, I’ll be wearing this sweater.
While it’s totally fantastic on it’s own with the leg lamp and bit of fringe, it also lights up. Yep, there are LED lights and a batteries. There is a little on/off switch so you can control when you want the lights on and off. When they’re on they twinkle and sparkle!
