They say it takes 21 days to form a habit. Since it’s been over a month I’m hoping that means that my exercise routine has become a habit.
And I’ve already learned lots of things. Like when you take 5+ years off from doing any form of regular exercise you have to take things slower than you might want to. As an example, I started the Couch to 5k program and this week I’m on week 3. I had to repeat week 2 last week because I gave myself shin splints from trying to run too fast. Now I’m back to jogging at turtle speed.
But I’m also learning that some movement each day is better than no movement.
I’m trying to get the kids in on a good exercise habit, too. How handy that this week I could tie in exercise with our letter E work! Littlest wasn’t a big fan of doing sit-ups. But since I homeschool Oldest Twin it’s important that I make sure he gets in a fair amount of physical activity.
And as a treat for all of our hard exercising I might need an eclair.

Good for you! Last year I started the same journey after not doing much of anything for years and starting to creep into my 40’s. I grew to love exercise more than another period in my life and now feel blah when I don’t get it. But it took me months to feel like I was somewhat fit. Hang in there.
