I should have been a dancer {SYTYCD Tour}

October 6, 2014 by Julie Leave a Comment

Or, perhaps not. But I am really glad that Ricky, Valerie, Jessica, Zach, Casey, and all of the contestants this season on So You Think You Can Dance decided to be dancers. Because Friday night my middle sister and I headed to the SYTYCD tour!

We both love the show and going to the tour together has become somewhat of an annual tradition. This is our 5th year to go. There was a brief moment where the tour wasn’t stopping near us like it normally does and we both had a small panic attack. Thankfully the situation was remedied and we got to go to the tour.
Of course, doing something 5 years in a row means there are certain traditions that have to be maintained. Example #1, we always make our own t-shirts to wear to the tour. This year we had some fun with dimensional fabric paint.
Also part of our tradition? Meeting the dancers! We met all the dancers that were on the tour but here I am with Ricky and Valerie (the winner and runner-up). We always have all of the dancers sign our shirts (which you can see hanging over the railing.)

If you watch the show I highly recommend going to the tour. They did almost all of my favorite dances from the season including the top 20 “Sing” tap duet and the top two boys with their “Antidote” routine. Seeing them live is just incredible.

 This year there 13 dancers at our stop (the top 10 plus a couple extras.)
It was really fun this year that the show we went to was just the 2nd stop on their tour. You could tell all the dancers were really excited.

Our video’s of the top 10 routine (here) and the finale (here).

Here are some previous tour recaps (and handmade shirts)

Season 10 – 2013

Season 9 – 2012

Season 8 – 2011

And, judging from the title of this post, it’s possible that I’m watching a lot of Gilmore Girls now that it is finally streaming on Netflix.
