I’m a little ornament obsessed. I love buying ornaments, giving ornaments, and making ornaments. I’ve even done an ornament yarn bomb. This year, as a thank you gift, I made a few mason jar lid Deer Ornaments.
These ornaments really could not be simpler to make. And they’re so cute! I mean, who doesn’t love deer? If you need a few last minute gifts, these are perfect.
You’ll need
mason jar lids (really you just need the bands)
cork
stencil (I used a deer stag)
black marker
jute
glue
Use the jar lid band to trace circles on the cork. Cut the cork to fit snuggly inside the bands. Using your stencil and marker, color in your design. Use a small amount of glue to secure the cork inside the jar band. Tie the jute around the outside of the band to hang it on the tree.
There’s the deer ornaments on television! They were part of our promotion for our Cowtown Indie Bazaar event earlier this month. You can see the video demonstration on CBS 11 Live at 11 and/or CBS 11 News at 4.
Happy ornament making!
