I like to say that my creative streak is inherited. My paternal grandparents were both creatives. My grandfather was a woodworker and my grandmother made miniatures. They passed that gene to my Dad and then to me and my sisters. My Dad’s medium of choice (at least for the moment) is leather working. Last year he made bunches of leather cuffs (I used a few for cuffs on some finger knit infinity scarves that I made). Some were plain, some were studded, and some were ‘braided’. The braided cuffs used a magic mystery braid technique that I had to learn how to do. But I don’t really craft with leather. So I took the same technique and created a crochet braided headband instead.

I share the pattern for the headband in the video, but if you’re like me you probably want a written pattern as well. I made a PDF version of the pattern that you can get for free in my pattern shop
Braided Crochet Headband Pattern

While I’m calling this a headband I think it could just as easily be called an ear warmer. But if I call it a headband then I can wear it year round, right?
Have you used this braid technique before? Have any questions about how to do it? Let me know in the comments!
