With Valentine’s Day approaching I wanted to share some of our favorite date night restaurants. For us a romantic restaurant, or a great date night meal, means one with fantastic food. If you’re planning a date night, or trip to Fort Worth, these are some of the best downtown Fort Worth restaurants:
Easily our favorite place to get Mexican food downtown, Taco Diner isn’t your typical Tex-Mex restaurant. Instead Taco Diner says that they serve traditional Mexico City street food. I highly recommend the Brisket Tamales. Insiders also know that the Taco Diner cheeseburger is one of the best things on the menu. There is a great patio for outdoor seating where you can do some great people watching and right near the beautiful fountains in Sundance Plaza. Open for lunch and dinner at 156 W 4th St.
It’s all about sharing here, Bird Cafe’s menu is filled with small plates and share plates. It’s also for perhaps the more adventurous eater, the menu includes things like Rabbit Pot Pie, Bangers and Mash, and Griddle Bobwhite Quail. I’m not always a fan of brussels sprouts, but they serve theirs with pancetta. My husband and I like to come here and get several things to share. The menu changes seasonally and many of the ingredients are from local sources. Open for lunch and dinner at 155 E. 4th and Commerce.
Soups, salads, and sandwiches make up the bulk of their menu. But their sandwiches include a Roasted Portobello complete with goat cheese, spinach, and tapenade. It’s pretty busy every time we come so I would recommend a reservation. (Though a table for two has never required us to wait very long.) Open for lunch and dinner and weekend brunch at 808 Main Street.
Remember I mentioned the pizza place where they know be my name? Well, this is the one. I suppose it helps that I almost always get the exact same thing. Nizza Pizza is not in downtown (the only one on the list) but it’s still our favorite take-out/delivery pizza place. Traditional New York Style pizza and cheesecake at 401 University Dr.
Notable mentions
Hoya Korean Kitchen – We have been anxiously awaiting their opening, and it’s finally here! The rice bowl with BBQ beef and kimchi was great. 355 W 3rd Street
Jake’s – This is where you’ll find us grabbing a burger, and probably some fried pickles. 515 Main Street
