Planning a game day party? Good snacks need good drinks. And good drinks need a coaster or koozie! Make a set of Astro Turf Football Coasters for your next football watching party!

Astro Turf Football Coaster

Is your home the gathering spot for watching football games? I don’t know about your house, but we have games on every weekend in our living room. And I’m a more avid football watcher than my teenagers. In fact the other weekend my sister and her husband came over and caught me watching a football game all by myself in the living room. Not even one of my teams. I think my brother-in-law was a little confused.

Part of what makes watching the games enjoyable are the refreshments. You need some snacks and drinks. The coffee table in my living room is wood, and ideally I like guests (as well as my family) to use coasters when placing drinks on the table. So it was natural then that I needed some football coasters to use while we watch football games. My Dad, handily, had recently purchased an indoor/outdoor green grass rug for a one time event. Which meant he was amenable when I asked him if I could cut off a piece to use for my coasters. (Thanks, Dad!)

For the Astro Turf Football Coasters I used

  • Indoor/outdoor green grass rug
  • Black marker
  • Round cork coaster
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

I traced the cork coaster onto the back of the ‘astro turf’ and cut out the circles. The cork coasters I got were already round and they are about 1/2″ thick.

After I cut out the grass all I needed to do was got glue the grass to the coaster. Really simple, right?

To really make it look like a football field I used a white paint marker to add some yard markings to the coasters. You could even add numbers as well. Make a set of 10, 20, 30, and 40 yard marker coasters.

How fun are these football themed SNICKERS® Bars that I got at CVS? They ask ‘Who are you when yore hungry’ and have fun sayings on them like RUSHED, OFFENSIVE, DEFEATED, and FUMBLY.

CVS can be a one stop shop for game day. Pick up your snacks, including the SNICKERS® Bars, some drinks, and you’re set! You can see some of the other fun sayings on the display.

To go along with the Astro Turf Football Coasters I also made a set of Astro Turf Football Koozies. These are backed with some green felt. I measured around my drink can and then cut out a piece of felt slightly longer. The turf grass I cut to the exact length I needed. Then I hot glued the turf grass to the felt. This left a piece of felt sticking out so I could wrap my grass around and make the circle I needed for it to be a koozie.

Once the koozie’s were dry I slipped them over my soft drink cans. Set the drinks out with the SNICKERS® Bars and we’re ready for game time! Have you tried the SNICKERS® Crisper Bars? The twins are big fans because with 2 squares they are perfect for them to share.

The slogan you’re not you when you’re hungry is a family theme! We even have a sign hanging in our kitchen.

This simple Astro Turf Football tutorial just makes game day celebrations more fun. It’s bringing the field to your living room! Guests can rest their drinks on the coasters or use the koozies on their cold beverages. Everyone needs a place to rest their drink while eating their SNICKERS® Bar!
