Let me know if this situation sounds familiar to anyone. You make dinner, make sure your family gets fed, but realize you don’t have time to feed yourself before you have to run out the door again.
*Raising my hand*
Now, I do my best not to over schedule our days/nights. But things happen. Thankfully there is always time to grab a SNICKERS® to keep the hunger away. Know what else you can grab, that is super quick to make? Chocolate and Peanut Butter SNICKERS® Snack Mix.
Here’s what you need for the snack mix:
7 cups rice squares cereal
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup roasted peanuts
1 cup SNICKERS® Peanut Butter Squares (cut in fourths)
Melt the chocolate according to the directions on the package.
Pour meted chocolate over the rice cereal, stir to make sure the cereal is evenly coated.
Toss chocolate covered cereal with powdered sugar.
Add peanuts and SNICKERS®, stirring to combine.
I know I’m a lot more likely to snap at people when I’m hungry. Teenagers are often guilty of this as well. To go along with the SNICKERS® “Who are you when you’re hungry?” contest I thought it would be fun to make some new kitchen art for our apartment. This is an 11×14 canvas where I sketched the phrase “I’m sorry for what I said when I was hungry” and then filled in the letters. Hopefully it will be a fun reminder to everyone to try extra hard to be nice to each other when we’re hungry.
You can enter the SNICKERS® “Who are you when you’re hungry?” contest by uploading a personal photo or video from your computer, Facebook, Instagram or use the SNICKERS® Meme Generator to create something new! Voting begins at Noon on 5/11/15 and ends at 11:59:59AM ET on 7/15/15.
For a little bit of St. Patrick’s Day fun I added a “Irish I had another bite” label to our snack jar. This would also be a cute way to gift some snack mix to a hungry friend!

I have experienced the hangries before and have always been sorry!
Thanks, Patti! It’s always nice to know I’m not alone 😉
I get the hangries everyday. I’m not a nice person when I’m hungry.
Right?! Such a good reason to have plenty of food around the house!
Oh do I know “hangry pants” as I call it…I have the tendency to go dead silent when the hunger strikes. It is not good and not good to be around me…LOL…with that being said, this looks DELICIOUS! All of my favorites!
Thanks, Kathleen! I like “hungry pants”! I definitely try to keep the pantry stocked to try to help.
I am the WORST when I am hungry! These look amazing though! Definitely a must do!
Me, too! And definitely give the recipe a try! The twins (and I) have been devouring it this week 🙂
I tend to get very cranky when I am hungry!
So glad to know I’m in good company! This snack mix has been a life saver with spring break this week 🙂
When I was in college, I used to make something very similar! It was easy because we had to live on campus (in dorms–no kitchens). I never thought to add peanuts. I always used peanut butter. The cut up snickers would be great!
Thanks, Sarah! The peanuts and cut up SNICKERS® are an amazing addition, I promise 😉
After reading this, my stomach legitimately started grumbling! Irish I could taste without have to make it myself, lol! xx
Thanks, Bethany! And it makes up super quick (plus it makes a large amount)!
Oh. My. Gosh. This looks amazing!!! I’m really sad about it because I’ve been doing so good at eating healthy and I think I might end up throwing it all away just to try some of this!!
Thanks, Kelly! The kids and I have definitely been enjoying this snack over spring break this week 😉
All of the above needs to be in my kitchen right now!!!!
Thanks, Bethany! And yes, it does! 😉
Everyone in this house gets the hangries, pretty much every day! We always have snacks on hand, and this would be a perfect addition to the collection. And even simple enough for me to make! 😉
With 3 boys I am a HUGE fan of simple snacks, and ones that make a lot. This fit both! And it’s so good 🙂
This looks amazing! Will have to try it. Thanks for sharing!
Definitely give it a try!
This is so funny…I’m not at my best when I’m hungry, either! And this snack mix looks amazing!
Thanks, Kristi! It’s really (really) good 😉
My 92 year old Mom is wprse then even I am when she is hungry–you are supposed to eat at 12 noon (lunch)–so what if there is a lot of traffic–go through that light–pass that car!! I generally have a candy bar or two with me to hand her–oh I’m sorry we have to share!! I never let her know that I bought an extra one and ate it before I got back in the car! You really don’t want to know me when I am famished either!!
Thanks for sharing, Michele! My stomach likes when I keep to an eating schedule, too!
Cute canvas! When I’m super hungry I crave brussels sprouts and veggie burgers. Sometimes beets. Strange I know. Love the design of your site.
Thanks, Sonja! It’s been a fun new piece to add to the kitchen!
Okay, now that’s just sinful! What are you doing to me??? Sharing!
But it’s so good 😉 Thanks for sharing!
I get so tired when I’m hungry, and I’m sure I’m not a joy to be around. I love this sign!
Glad I have company! Thanks, Crystal!
YUMMMMMMM. I want to make this NOW!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, now! 😉 Thanks, Becky!
Love the sign! I have a hangry toddler in the house–she’s always satisfied with a handful of cereal and raisins. 🙂
Hangry kids are tough! This snack has definitely helped over spring break at our house this week. Thanks, Melissa!
this looks tasty. love it
Thanks, Rosie! It’s pretty scrumptious 🙂
That looks like a great and easy snack to have on hand!
Thanks! I’m a BIG fan of simple snacks!
Ha! I love this! So fun!
Thanks, Debra!
I need to make the sign for my daughter. My gosh, does she get cranky when hungry. I don’t for some reason.
Thanks, Liz! One of my sons started getting ‘hangry’ the other day and I just pointed to the sign and smiled at him 🙂
Yum! I have seen those muddy buddies everywhere. I have to try them.
Thanks, Michelle! It’s one of my favorites! Simple and it makes a large amount.
Can I tell you that Snickers got me through college?! 😀 Cute post!!
It’s helping me get through now! Thanks, Angie!
That sign is hilarious and I definitely need it in my house! It’s not pretty when I’m hungry either. PS this recipe sounds delicious!!
Thanks, Caitlin! It’s so (sooo) good! And I’m glad I have some hungry company 🙂
This looks really good. I need something for a snack next week and we just said we wanted chocolate last night.
Thanks, Christina! It’s a great snack to make! (And it’s lasted us all week).
Hangry is a four letter word in my house! That looks like it would come in handy. 😀
Thanks, Kassondra! It has come in very handy with all the kids home for spring break this week!
I get totally hangry, too! That snack mix looks SO yummy and just the thing to crush those mid-afternoon hunger pangs!
Yes! It’s been my favorite afternoon snack this week!
I’m hungry just looking at this! I love snack mix- I made a peppermint chocolate one for a Christmas party this past December and it was a big hit! Love the little Irish label on the jar, too!
Thanks, Meghan! I bet it would be really good with a little mint for Christmas!
I know I’ve caught myself saying this quote before. This is a fun snack, but I would totally eat this whole thing in one sitting. lol
Thanks, Natalie! And it makes quite a lot, so you might surprise yourself 😉
I say that all the time. LOL I am hungry a lot I guess. This looks amazing and would be very dangerous to keep in my house! Cute sign and labels!
Thanks! And it’s such a true sentiment!
I totally get grouchy when I’m hungry. It’s awful!
Thanks, Alyssa! Thankfully this snack mix has kept the hunger anger away for me this week 🙂
I love the art work, especially the quote “I’m Sorry for What I said When I was Hungry” It sounds likes me.
Thanks, Ashley! It was a fun sign to make and I’m loving having it in my kitchen.
I’m evil when I’m hungry and I think it’s getting worse as I get older. A snickers a good way to go to hold yourself over.

It is a very good way to hold yourself over! Thanks, Whitney!
