Looking for the ultimate game day food? Try this simply delicious Ultimate Hamburger Appetizer recipe!
We do have seasons in Texas. In addition to the typical spring, summer, fall, and winter, we also experience football season. It comes after summer and lasts through fall. Football season is a great excuse for many football watching parties. And what’s a party without food?
The great thing about these hamburger appetizers is that they are quick to make and the possibilities are pretty endless. My one-stop-shop was at HEB to pick up all the ingredients I needed.
Ultimate Hamburger Appetizer Ingredients
- Ground beef
- KING’s HAWAIIAN® Hamburger Buns
- Tomato
- Onion
- Sliced pickles
- Bacon
- New KING’s HAWAIIAN® Smoked Bacon BBQ Sauce
- Shredded cheese
The biggest prep is cooking the ground beef. Just cook it up in a skillet on the stove top. I cooked mine with minced onion and some KING’s HAWAIIAN® Smoked Bacon BBQ Sauce. While it’s cooking you can also slice your tomato and put the bread into the muffin tin.
Place one half of a hamburger bun, either the top or bottom, into each spot on your muffin tin. Push it down with your fingers to make a nice cup shape for all the fillings.
Once the bread is in place you can start loading it up. First up are any condiments, like more of the Smoked Bacon BBQ Sauce. I’m certainly of the opinion that everything tastes better with some bacon. Made with chunks of rick, smoky bacon combined with tangy sweet sauce it’s perfect for burgers. Then layer in the cooked ground beef, shredded cheese, sliced tomato, and pickles. Or anything else you can think of!
Once all your fillings are in pop the muffin tray into a 300 degree oven for 5-10 minutes to get the cheese nice and melty.
To really make my hamburgers ‘ultimate’ I also added some bacon to the top. I cooked the bacon in my skillet while everything else was heating up in the oven. I chopped up the bacon and added it to the top at the end.
If you want a bit of a kick you could also add KING’s HAWAIIAN® Big Island Lava BBQ Sauce. It’s got the boldness of red jalapeños, spicy island flavor, and a hint of sweet.
My hamburger appetizers are ready to serve! Alongside a hot dog in a KING’s HAWAIIAN® Hot Dog Bun, some potato chips, and a cold drink.
What are you serving for football season? Let me know!
