The Twins are Turning 13 – Minecraft Birthday Cake

September 24, 2014 by Julie 6 Comments

Celebrate a birthday with a Minecraft Birthday Cake!

My twins are turning 13 in a matter of days. I can’t quite wrap my mind around the idea.

This weekend we celebrated. Oldest Twin requested a cake that looks like the cake block from Minecraft. I found a fun camo cake mix that I used for the second cake. I’m a big fan of semi-homemade cakes. A cake mix from a box (usually jazzed up a little) and then homemade frosting.

The party was a hit. The apartment was completely full of friends and family. There were teenage and almost teenage boys surrounding the TV playing video games together.

Littlest had a really hard time during the party. He spent most of last week upset that his brothers share a birthday and that he’s not part of it. He cried that he will never catch up to be the same age that they are.

Which is why I love this picture of him and the party balloons. You can barely see his face but his smile is there. So even though my counters and tables are cluttered with party remnants I wanted to remember his joy.

Happy Birthday Twins!

Awwww how sweet your little one is. It has to be hard to be left out of all the twin stuff. Glad he cheered up a bit:)

Thanks, Megan! This is the first year that he’s really been aware that his brothers share a birthday and that he’s different. I was really happy to see his smile.

Thanks, Alice! We’ve always done at least semi-homemade cakes. The kids always have grand idea’s of how they want them to look and I try my best!
