Create oversized your own DIY Spider Web with something your probably already have on hand, trash bags!
I’m not usually a big fan of spiders or spiderwebs. But these oversized spider webs are one of my favorite DIY Halloween decorations. Put them in your windows, on your front door, over shutters. Any large space that needs some Halloween decor.
DIY Spider Web Supplies
- Kitchen trash bags
- Scissors
The only supplies you need to make these Spider Webs are trash bags and a pair of scissors. My original plan was to make spider webs out of black trash bags, until my teenager pointed out that spider webs should be white. So I made both!
How to Make DIY Spider Webs
Start by laying your garbage bag out flat. Then trim all around the edge to create a square. This turns your trash bag into two large pieces of plastic. From here fold your square in half and then in half again to create a triangle.
You’ll cut out your spider web similarly to how you cut out a snowflake, by trimming away pieces on each side. For the spiderweb shape leave a stem running down the center. Then make slightly curved lines coming out from the stem. I sketched out a basic shape with permanent marker on the trash bags before cutting out my spider webs.
Once the webs are cut out unfold them and then separate the two pieces of plastic. Just like the you have two webs!
Hang them inside or outside your house, any place that needs some decoration.
I thought these exterior shutters were a perfect place for some of my DIY plastic spider webs.
I also covered the front door with some of the spider webs. A decorated front door and now I just need some pumpkins on the porch!
Don’t forget to decorate the inside of your house. You can cut the webs into quarters so that they fit into windows or other corners.
You could also add some plastic spiders to your webs if you want! See more Halloween decorating, craft, and treat ideas.
