Tips for packing the perfect summer picnic basket! Trips to the park are easier and better with pickle pouches.
There is a park near my son’s elementary school, and during the school year he asks me to stop and play nearly every day. As long as it’s not raining or too cold, I try to say yes as often as I can. The park is a pretty popular spot for many kids to come and play after school. Not only is it a wonderful way for him to get some energy out, it also became a place where I could meet and visit with other Moms.
I began to notice that many of them came prepared for these after-school stops with plenty of snacks on hand. Nothing that needing preparing, everything was grab and go. It was almost like a picnic potluck. The Moms all at a table together, with all the snacks spread around so the kids could pick and choose what they wanted.
It didn’t take long before I realized what a brilliant idea that was for a picnic! So often I get encumbered with picnic basket items that require preparation. The secret to the perfect picnic basket is finger foods!
I don’t know about your kids, but mine LOVE pickles. We buy several jars a week. Their favorite are the baby dills. But, for our snack picnic, I just discovered this new product at Kroger, NEW Mt. Olive Pickles in pouches! (Use the store locator to find your local Kroger.)
These Mt. Olive pickle pouches at Kroger are a game changer. Perfect for their on-the-go convenience this summer! Once you have your pickles you can work on packing the rest of your snack picnic.
I started thinking of my perfect picnic basket much like a charcuterie board. A spread of yummy finger food items that the kids could grab and go. This is a day at the park after all, and I want them running around playing as much as possible.
To go with my pickle pouches I’m also packing:
- Baby carrots
- Celery sticks
- Grapes
- Sliced strawberries
- Rolls
- Dipping sauces (I like ranch dressing for the veggies and a sweet dip for the fruits)
- Juice
The tip is to pre-cut and wash everything and put it into resealable containers. Bonus, the pickles already come in a resealable bag! Mt. Olive’s been around since 1926, but they are still bringing innovation to pickles.
Good for the whole family, these pickle pouches are easy not only to pack in a snack picnic but in lunches, snacking in the break-room at work, tailgating, and so much more.
Are you on-the-go this summer? Where will you take the NEW Mt. Olive pickle pouches?
