red high heels makeover

March 20, 2012 by Julie Leave a Comment

I bought these shoes on whim. I was at the store looking for a new pair of black heels. But these were a steal, so I bought them too. I wore them a few times. Then I got pregnant and they have languished in my closet for a long time. I decided it was finally time to spruce them up.

This was actually a really easy spruce. The black details on the shoes were what was bothering me. So the first thing I did was remove the black bows and lace. Feeling better already.
Since part of the ribbon from the bows is sewed in the shoe there was no way to get rid of all of it. But I planned to cover it up anyway. I’ve been making lots of crochet flowers now that spring is coming and I thought what would better suit me than flowers on my shoes? I simply crocheted the flowers and hot glued them to my shoes. Voila!
And now I can’t wait to wear them!

That’s a really cute idea. I’ve seen several people repurposing clothing (but not shoes until you) and I’ve been inspired by some of the ideas. Maybe if I ever get my house in order I can do some of that cute stuff.

Bonnie – I have two shirts and a cardigan sitting in a pile waiting for me to repurpose them. Unfortunately, my idea’s for them involve sewing. (Which I’m not great at.) So they keep sitting 🙂

Adorable re-do. Now I shall never be afraid to use scissors and some handy stitches to create something new!
