natural goodness

As a Mom taking care of my kids is a top priority. Which is why we have been using Tom’s of Maine®, and it all started when we tried out the deodorant last year. A natural product that the kids love is a clear winner at my house.

Keeping natural products in our home inspires us to make more natural choices in other areas as well, including where we live.

I know that a photo of some dumpsters isn’t all that exciting. Except that it is. There are four dumpsters in our basement where all the residents in our building take their trash. When we first moved in one of the dumpsters was technically for recycling, but in reality all of them ended up being used for trash. We had been lucky in our house that the city we lived in had a curbside recycling program. The kids had gotten used to having two containers inside, one for trash and one for recycling. It was something important that I had been trying to instill in them. So I was ecstatic the day that I came home and they had stenciled “Recycle” on the side of one of the dumpsters. We still have two trash cans in our apartment. They are identical so one has a label that says trash and the other has a recycle symbol on it, so even guests can know what goes in each container.

Another advantage of where we live is the chance to walk more places. The library, gym, restaurants, a park, even performance halls (I don’t visit that one as often as I’d like to) are all within walking distance of our front door. Even if we don’t have a specific destination in mind, just the chance to get outside and enjoy time together.

Tom’s of Maine® products do not contain artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. They also do not use any animal ingredients or employ animal testing. You can learn more about their ingredients, including its purpose and source, by visiting www.tomsofmaine.com.

I recently shared a new toothbrush station the kids and I created for their bathroom. One last step for the station was to pick up some Tom’s of Maine® toothpaste at Walmart. I got the Simply White® Clean Mint Cavity Protection Toothpaste for the twins and the Silly Strawberry® Anticavity Toothpaste for Littlest.

One more natural goodness tip? Pick a toothbrush song. One that is about 2 minutes long, which is the recommended brushing time. It helps kids, and adults, make sure they are brushing their teeth for the right amount of time. Those are my tips for more natural goodness, now I’d love to hear yours!

That’s wonderful that you live walking distance from so many different things! I live in South Florida, where it’s too hot to walk anywhere 9 months out of the year. I cannot wait for it to cool down a bit!
