my gratitude jar

November 8, 2012 by Julie 3 Comments

I really want to focus on being thankful this month. And it’s something that I want to encourage in my children as well.

I have seen lots of great ideas for beautiful thankful trees and garlands.

And I had great intentions of getting one made this year. But the time has slipped away and I didn’t get one made.
I was feeling sad until I saw this idea for a simple gratitude jar.

A simple mason jar and a stack of pieces of paper. I did tie some jute around the rim.

Family members write down things they are grateful for and drop them in the jar. Then we watch throughout the month and the slips of paper inside the jar grow.

And if we want to we can read some of the slips out loud on Thanksgiving.
