Sorry in advance for a mostly written post and only one slightly relevant picture.
I spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday last week training (kind of) for my new job.
First I guess I should explain what my job is a little bit. I mentioned last week that I’ll be working for The Shorthorn (my school’s paper) doing online ad sales. Our college paper is changing from a daily print publication to a mostly online paper. There will be new content published online each day. Then there will also be a weekly printed paper (with unique content, not things that have been online). I’m nervous (as with any new adventure), but excited.
So Thursday we spent the day at another nearby college (TCU in Fort Worth). A national speaker came in and talked to us about ad design. A lot of what he said was pretty interesting, but not really applicable to what I will be doing in my job. So I took notes and filed it away for future reference.
Friday was training at our office and specifically related to what I’ll be doing. And they fed us.
Saturday was a training that was for ALL student employees. I got to wear my first Shorthorn staff t-shirt and feel official.
