I’ve been a small business over for well over 10 years. Over the years my business has changed and evolved. When I started I was building a handmade knit and crochet business, selling accessories like hats and scarves at local craft shows. I even had a business partner and we produced some large craft shows with close to 100 vendors. I created a blog and started sharing the items that I was making. Over the years I left craft show producing and focused more and more on my blog, expanding beyond just knitting and crochet to share life updates, other craft projects, travel tips, and favorite recipes. Even my business name changed, from the name I had used at craft shows to Julie Measures, which could encompass all the best things in life, travel, crafts, and food, that you can measure.
Throughout my different business iterations there is one thing that is always the same, business owners are consistently looking for ways to grow and increase their businesses. That desire for growth is what led me to jump at the chance to participate in the 30 day challenge associated with Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers by Russell Brunson.
Traffic Secrets: Who is Russell Brunson?
Russell Brunson is both a Best-Selling Author, as well as the CEO of $100M software company ClickFunnels. Over the years Brunson has popularized the concept of sales funnels, built a following of entrepreneurs, and sold hundreds of thousands of copies of his books. In his new book Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers, Brunson reveals the classic and foundational direct marketing techniques that will allow you to be at the front of new trends and see opportunities that are invisible to everyone else. You’ll learn, as I am, how to master evergreen traffic strategies in order to fill your website and funnels with your dream customers. For me that means creating crafts, recipes, and travel tips that will inspire my blog readers.
Key Takeaways
As both a blogger and a craft show producer I have had the opportunity to meet and interact with a lot of other business owners. I was, and am, consistently impressed with the creativity of these entrepreneurs. Something that I learned, that Brunson also shares, is that the biggest problem that most entrepreneurs have isn’t creating an amazing product or service; it’s getting their future customers to discover that they even exist. There is a skill, both an art and science, of getting consumers to find you.
I’m currently about halfway through the book and the 30 day challenge. If you’re following me on Twitter you’ve likely seen me posting about the daily challenges. Some of the things I have already learned are:
- How to find your dream customer
- Where is your dream customer hiding?
- Finessing your hook, story, and offer
- Filling your funnels organically
- How to use paid ads
- Instagram, Facebook, Google, and YouTube traffic secrets
I love the way the book is broken down into 30 daily steps. It turns a task that has often felt overwhelming into daily actionable items. If you are a blogger or business owner of any kind, this book can benefit you. I’m anxious to finish the 30 day challenge and build on the key strategies I am learning to increase site traffic.

You’re amazing at everything you do and I’m always impressed each time I learn more about you. What is a “craft show producer”? I am not very good at crafts!
I have been doing this challenge as well with my daughters, and it’s been really wonderful to follow along the daily steps and learn together.

Thank you! As a craft show producer my business partner and I put on lots of craft shows. We ran a group for handmade artists that met monthly in Fort Worth. In addition to many smaller shows we held a big annual craft show at Will Rogers in Fort Worth called the Cowtown Indie Bazaar. We would have dozens of vendors and bring in hundreds of shoppers. We would spend all year working on the event!

I think it’s wild how much our sites change over the years (when I started, I didn’t have a husband, house or kids!) I’ve loved learning more about myself, my focus and my audience while working through the challenge.

That’s really awesome that you did craft shows before. It’s a great place to see so many amazing creations. Traffic Secrets is a great book. I am impressed with all the little nuggets that Russell shares and how simple they are to implement. It’s been following along on this challenge! Happy Sunday.
