I signed up at the gym

August 13, 2013 by Julie Leave a Comment

One of the things I was really excited about with our new apartment is that I can walk to the YMCA.
Walk.
So the week we moved in I went down and signed us up for a family membership.
Excited.
Gung ho.
I hadn’t been to the gym in over 4 years. But I decided with our big move it was time.
Guess who then didn’t go to the gym for 2 weeks?
Yep, me.
But I did go yesterday. And today. So I’m making progress.
Littlest Brother seems to like the kids room where he gets to play while I work out.
And Youngest Twin really likes the youth room where they have video games, a pool table, and other cool activities.
But I really have no idea what I am doing.
Yesterday I just walked on the treadmill.
Today I ventured into the machine weights area and tried to figure out the different machines.
But I could really use some workout routine ideas. Especially with the weight machines.
Any suggestions?

I’ve never been in a gym, but I do a lot of at home workouts using videos and the one that taught me to make the best use of weights is Blogilates. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3j1MGTLeFw&list=PLA1C10EAADF5E44A5&index=18 If you are interested in just using the free weights as opposed to the machines, she has some really good moves for toning all different areas of the body.

Thanks, Heidi! I’m a little scared of the free weights at the gym. (The people in there look really intense.) But I need to get braver!

I’m always looking for new workout inspiration for the gym – it can be totally terrifying and overwhelming if you don’t go in prepared! Pinterest is a GREAT resource for workout routines. I usually will go to the search box and type in treadmill workouts, or elliptical and that really helps me. If you’re looking to incorporate more weights one of my favorite bloggers is Jess from blondeponytail.com she does really great workout routines that you can do at home or at the gym, that are easy to follow. She does videos/pictures that helps me with form, etc. Good luck and congrats on getting out there!! That’s awesome!

Ohh, good luck. We have many nature trails and things of that nature around me that I love to utilize. When I was in college I love to use the gym in the wee hours of the morning while no one was there. Also always helped me start the day out right
