If you have not been to a Bass Pro Shops during the holidays, I have to tell you, you’re missing out. Aside from some great Christmas present ideas, which I’ll get to in a minute, they have a whole winter wonderland. Complete with Santa at his house in the North Pole, surrounded by his reindeer. Of course my sons are always partial to trains.
Now those great Christmas present ideas that I mentioned. While Daisy has several different models, including the 75th Anniversary Edition Red Ryder BB Gun and PINK, during this particular trip I picked up an 880 model.
In addition to the 880 I also made sure we had Daisy BBs and safety glasses. And I picked up a target for us to use. Then I got to work on the personalized (and DIY) part of their gift, ‘bad guy’ targets with characters from their favorite television shows and video games. How fun to become to lead character in your favorite game?! I printed out the targets and then attached them to the target block.
Once your personalized target is ready you’re almost ready to go out and do some shooting. I always like to go over gun safety any time the twins use a BB gun. Daisy educates roughly one million of America’s youth a year through their Ten Lesson Shooting Curriculum about BB gun use and safety (found here). The twins Dad is in the National Guard and they have been in Boy Scouts for a few years, so they have heard gun safety guidelines before, but you can never go over it too many times. Daisy’s educational curriculum has been around since 1948 and they educate through their partnerships with leading conservation and youth training organizations including scouting, JROTC units, 4-H National Shooting Sports, Youth Shooting Sports Alliance, Civilian Marksmanship, as well as private camps. Daisy also has inflatable BB gun ranges that can be found at major outdoor sporting goods retailers where the majority of those who attend are first-time shooters.
