Host an Easter Egg Hunt Party that’s out of this world! DIY Galaxy Easter Eggs
What do you do when your kids love space? You make the most gorgeous DIY Galaxy Easter Eggs.
Layers of colors combine to make swirls of color, reminding us of galaxies and deep space.
Of course, the Easter Eggs are just part of the preparations. I’m also sharing a paper fan party backdrop and a quick way to dress up a vase for spring.
DIY Galaxy Easter Eggs
DIY Galaxy Easter Egg Supplies
- Wooden Easter Eggs
- Acrylic ink paint (in pink, blue, and yellow)
- Felt, cut into squares
- Gloves
- Wooden egg cups (optional)
- Spray paint (optional)
These DIY Galaxy Eggs are essentially stamped using felt that has had ink dripped on it. But first things first, put on the gloves.
My ink paint had droppers as the lids. I dropped a few drops of ink onto a square of felt. Then I used the felt to stamp my wooden eggs. (The eggs were already painted white.) I painted about half of my eggs pink and the other half blue.
With the base coat of color on each egg, it was time to start layering the colors! To the pink eggs I added layers of yellow (on the left) or blue (on the right and in the center in the back).
For the blue eggs I added a layer of yellow (on the left) or pink (on the right and in the center in the back).
But to really get the galaxy I layered all three colors. I found that it worked best for the yellow to be the last color that I layered. My favorite were the eggs with a blue base, then pink, and then yellow layered on top.
While my space loving kids were excited about these galaxy eggs, they are gorgeous for any Easter Egg Hunt party!

Easter Paper Fan Backdrop
This pastel Easter backdrop couldn’t be simpler. Vintage paper fans, a large board, and plenty of hot glue. Open the fans and hot glue them open. Use a pair of sharp scissors to cut off the handle. Then glue the fans to your board. Layer the fans to cover any gaps and create dimension. You can make your backdrop as large as you’d like!
Easter Paper Straw Vase
Use double sided tape attached to your vase. Attach the paper straws to the tape and then slip a rubber band over them to keep them in place. Finally add a ribbon and a bow!
Of course it’s not a party without some food. We usually do a morning Easter egg hunt, which means brunch and breakfast pastries. Whip up some muffins or pick up some danishes from the store and serve them on spring time paper plates.
A Hoppy Easter door sign also makes great table decor.
You’re ready for Easter guests!

When the Easter egg hunts are over and all the goodies are emptied out, what can you do with all those plastic eggs? Turns out, quite a lot! Plastic eggs are great for math skills, reading practice, science experiments, teaching genetics, and really fun arts and crafts.
