Want to give your jeans a fresh spring look? Make DIY Stamped Ampersand Jeans!
There is something about patterned jeans that to me says spring. I had an older pair of jeans that were starting to look a little worn. To freshen them up I decided to try making my own patterned jeans with some fabric paint and a stamp. A few hours later and I had a brand new pair of DIY Stamped Ampersand Jeans.
Supplies:
- Ampersand rubber stamp
- Ruler
- Marker
- Fabric paint
While you could just stamp wherever you wanted, I wanted my stamps to be fairly evenly spaced apart. So the first thing I did was grab a ruler and a marker and make dots where I wanted all the stamps to go. Based on the size of my stamp I spaced all my ampersands about 2 inches apart in each direction. My stamp said it was 1″x1″, but that was the size of the wood not the actual design.
The next step was to actually stamp my jeans. It was important to spread the paint out really thin before dipping my stamp into it. I started with the back side of my jeans, stamping from top to bottom. I let that side completely dry before turning them over and stamping the front. Because I was doing it by hand no two stamps are exactly alike.
Once my jeans were stamped and dried I ironed them to set the fabric paint, following the directions on the bottle I used.
Then I was ready to wear them out in public! I have to say that I got lots of compliments on them and people were surprised when I told them I did the stamps myself.
The entire project took a few hours because I had to let the pants dry after stamping them. But the actual stamping itself didn’t take very long at all. If you’ve been wanting to some patterned pants give my DIY Stamped Ampersand Jeans a try!
