Getting back into healthy habits after the holidays is hard. While the house was full of sweet treats I sort of lost all my healthy eating and exercising motivation. But now it’s time to get back on track. I made myself a simple Daily Exercise Jar to jump start my healthier habits. Simple exercises, no gym or equipment required.

I started with a list of exercises that I could do at home, that each take just a couple of minutes. The stairs up and down are the longest time commitment on my list. Since I live in a 20 story building I figured I should take advantage of going up a down a few flights of stairs each day. Here are some of the items on my list

  • 10 Pushups
  • 20 Crunches
  • 25 Mountain Climbers
  • 30-second Plank
  • 1-minute Jumping jacks
  • 10 Burpees
  • 20 Plank Jacks
  • 20 Bicycle Crunches
  • 20 Squats
  • 30-second Side Plank (each side)
  • 20 Lunges (10 per leg)
  • 30 Hip Thrusts
  • 10 Walking Planks
  • 10 Donkey Kicks (each side)
  • 3 Stairs down and up
  • 1-minute Boxing
  • 10 Arm & Leg Lifts
  • 20 Standing kicks
  • 1-minute Run in Place

daily exercise jar list slips

Once I got my list typed up I printed it out on some bright purple paper. I made each slip the same length so I won’t know what I’m grabbing when I reach into my exercise jar. (Here’s the DIY for my mason jar cozy.)

The idea is to place the exercise jar in a prominent place in the house, somewhere you walk by fairly often. Each time you pass the jar you pull out a slip and do the exercise that is written on it. At the end of the day put all the completed slips back in the jar and start again tomorrow.

You might start by completing a certain number of slips a day if you can’t do all of them. Or you might add more slips as time goes along. I love that the exercise list is completely customizable to your own fitness level and goals.

Make sure to enter the goodnessknows® sweepstakes with a photo or quote for a chance to win one of two $500 gift cards up for grabs each week for three weeks beginning January 18th!

Doing a little good for yourself can go a long way. I made sure to pick up goodnessknows® snack squares when I was at Walmart recently. Available in three flavors: goodness knows® Cranberry, Almond, Dark Chocolate; goodnessknows® Apple, Almond & Peanut, Dark Chocolate; goodnessknows® Peach & Cherry, Almond, Dark Chocolate. I found all three flavors at the front of the store near the registers.

Don’t forget to reward yourself for meeting your goals! I love getting fresh flowers and that’s one of my healthy rewards. Some other ideas:

  • Buy a new workout song
  • Get a succulent for your desk
  • Relax with a movie
  • Invest in some good workout socks
  • Get some new sunglasses for outdoor exercising
  • Paint your nails a new color
  • Get a massage
  • Buy some new workout clothes

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

What are your healthy goals for this year? Where could a little goodness take you?

This is a cute idea. I need a little reminder like this because I’m terrible about keeping up with my exercise when working from home. #client

By the time I decide which exercise I should do I normally have already mentally moved on to something else. A jar full of very specific exercise instructions is exactly what I need! #client

This is such a great idea to stay committed to your health goals! I definitely agree with treating yourself to keep you motivated to exercise. I try and buy cute new workout clothes to keep me committed. Then I’m excited to show off my new cute outfit at the gym!

What a fantastic idea! I tend to be fairly disciplined about working out regularly, but there are those days when you just don’t feel like; this could help with motivation.
