Crochet Flowers For Your Shoes

July 14, 2016 by Julie Leave a Comment

Looking to give your shoes a fresh look? Add crochet flowers to your shoes for a pretty addition!

For as much as I like to go barefoot, I seem to be really hard on my shoes. Perhaps it’s all the things I walk in to. I’m kind of a klutz. Just this week I managed to injure myself doing yoga (yep) and then Littlest came up behind me to hug me and I tripped and landed on my knee. On the tile. Clearly I am not a graceful human being most of the time.

So I like to do fun things like jazz up my shoes when I have scuffed them up but they are still comfy to wear. I have such a hard time finding shoes that are comfy I don’t want to give up a pair until I have to. So I’m crocheting up a few flowers that I can add to my shoes as wanted.

There are a couple options for your crochet shoe flowers. If you want to make them a permanent addition you could certainly hot glue or super glue them to your shoes. On the flip flops I prefer that method. For my heels I want to be able to move them around or take them off. You can glue the flower to a hair clip and slide it over and the side or front of your shoe. I really like how the flowers look on the side of the heels.

I’m mostly using the same crochet flower pattern as I did to make my Bulky Flower Embroidery Hoop, with just a few changes. Obviously I wanted to make the flowers smaller for my shoes. Here are the changes I made

  • supplies: Use a lightweight/fingering yarn
  • supplies: Use size E 3.50mm crochet hook
  • Pattern notes: Stop crocheting after Round 6. Fasten off and weave in ends. This will give you three layers of petals.

How summery are my flip flops with the flowers added to them?! I can’t wait to take these to the pool.
