My Very Own Gold Pumpkin

October 27, 2014 by Julie Leave a Comment

Putting furniture on wheels is becoming quite the trend at our apartment. It started with my desk. Then another small piece of furniture that holds that printer. And now we’ve added a new coffee table.

We’ve been looking for a new coffee table for a few months now, but nothing was quite right. Saturday we visited a couple antique/resale stores in Dallas and found this. The right shape (the right price) and it was on wheels. It fits right in.

The shops in Dallas were a lot of fun and now I wish I had taken a lot more pictures. There was a stuffed lion for sale in one of them. I also found a cool vintage TWA bag (here). (It reminded me of the Pan Am bag that Rory gets for Lorelai in Gilmore Girls.) Sadly, I didn’t buy the bag. I’m having a little shoppers remorse.

I also got around to decorating a pumpkin this weekend. A gold pumpkin as you can see. A friend of mine threw a fall brunch with plenty of chili and pumpkin flavored desserts. She had pumpkins for each of us to decorate. I spray painted mine gold and then used mod podged to attach the glitter. I really like the gold on gold look.

And I discovered that taking a pumpkin cake to a potluck to share is much better than baking it at home because there is a smaller chance that you will eat too much of it. Of course the flip side is that there were some other scrumptious things at the party that I also enjoyed.

Another realization hit me at the party. I’m becoming someone who talks about running. I’m not really even up to running 3 miles straight (yet) but I found myself completely enthralled with talk of running schedules, shoe recommendations, and compression socks. I’m pretty happy with this new leaf I’m turning over.
