Running, hiking, riding bikes, lifting weights, or even simple strolls through the park. What’s your favorite way to move? Living in the Pacific Northwest has given me the opportunity to fall in love with the outdoors. From long hikes to strolls through the farmers market, I love getting outside and seeing where my body can take me.
However, in order to do all the activities that I enjoy, I also have realized how important it is to fuel my body in order to have the energy that I want. And that includes making sure I get enough protein. Protein is a critical part of the processes that fuel your energy.
I’ve previously shared how I make Protein Waffles and Mini Muffins topped with the best crumb topping. Now Naked Nutrition has a delicious new product, Naked Brownie, that make it even easier to create delicious protein filled recipes.
Naked Brownie is a high-protein brownie baking mix that starts with their premium whey concentrate protein. The Naked Brownie comes with instructions for how to make a traditional pan of brownies, but I put my own twist on it. Using the brownie recipe from the container, I cooked my brownies in my mini waffle maker to make easy to grab and go chocolate protein brownie waffles.
I also made a yummy 2-ingredient peanut butter sauce that you can pour over the top of your waffles! Because, who doesn’t love chocolate and peanut butter together?!
How to Make Chocolate Protein Brownie Waffles
These protein brownie waffles couldn’t be easier to make. Simply combine the mix with water!
For a full pan of brownies, the recipe on the container, uses 10 scoops of powder combined with 6 to 7 fluid ounces of water. I used this same amount to make a big batch of mini brownie waffles.
I also sprayed my mini waffle maker with non-stick baking spray to keep the brownie waffles from sticking as they baked.
If you want to make a smaller recipe you can easily halve the amount. Mix together the protein brownie mix and water, and then cook according to the directions on your mini waffle maker. Mine said to use 1/3 cup of batter and cook for approximately 3 minutes.
2-Ingredient Peanut Butter Sauce
Chocolate and peanut butter were just made to be enjoyed together! The BEST peanut butter sauce is just 2 ingredients, peanut butter and honey! If you prefer you could also use regular pancake syrup, not maple syrup, instead of the honey.
Simply combine 1 part peanut butter to 2 parts honey or syrup. For example, if you use 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, then you’ll want to use 4 tablespoons of honey or peanut butter.
Place the items into a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 15 second increments, until the sauce is smooth. In addition to being a fantastic topping for waffles, this sauce could also be used with ice cream or with other desserts. You could even drizzle this peanut butter sauce over a pan of brownies!
Isn’t everything fun when it’s mini? Even waffles! It’s easy to use the Naked Brownie to make these mini chocolate brownie protein waffles for a sweet breakfast or even dessert. I also topped mine with some fresh strawberries.
Of course you don’t have to make things mini, even though they are fun to eat. You could also use your mix to make a full sized pan of brownies as well.
Enjoy a fun way to make brownies and increase your protein intake at the same time!
