Bacon Hearts

Make breakfast extra special and show your love with Bacon Hearts!

Bacon Hearts

We’re big fans of breakfast at my house. The kids and I are breakfast eaters every day. But with busy mornings I don’t do a lot of cooking in the morning. Have I mentioned that my 9th has his first class starting at 6am? So if I want breakfast food like pancakes, eggs, and bacon I usually serve it at dinner time. No matter when you make your breakfast food, this fun way to play with your bacon can make a meal feel like a special occasion.

Bacon Hearts

These bacon hearts would be perfect for Valentine’s Day, but don’t let their heart shape limit when you make them. They could be for Mother’s Day, birthdays, anytime you want to let someone know you love them. Through bacon.

Bacon Hearts

On an ungreased pan, lay out a strip of bacon. Don’t trim or cut it in any way, just stretch it flat. To make the point at the bottom of the heart, first fold both ends of the bacon toward each other, up to the top, until the bottoms meet and form a point. Then tuck each side of the top sides of the bacon down to form the rounded edges of the hearts. Repeat until you have as many hearts as you want. Don’t worry if the hearts are so close they’re touching, the bacon will shrink when cooking.

Bake at 400 degrees for ten-twelve minutes on the top rack. Remove them from the oven. Take the hearts off the baking sheet using a spatula, and place them on a cooling rack, covered in paper towels, to cool and drain.

Serve after two resting minutes. Then they’re ready to enjoy! So easy, right? Of course you can easily dress up the serving plate with decorations or candies if there is a holiday or special occasion.
