Gather your girlfriends because I have a Girl’s Night Out (or in our case afternoon) idea for you. A couple years ago for my birthday I hosted a book swap. I invited my girlfriends who love to read and everyone brought books to swap. We placed them all on a table, gabbed, ate some food, and then everyone left with new books. It was a hit and something I wanted to repeat. This time, instead of books, I hosted an Accessory Swap Party. I called it a new way to do some spring cleaning. I asked everyone to bring any accessories (in good condition) that they wanted to swap and I would provide plenty of eats and drinks.
Our food theme was a hummus bar. I served three different kinds of hummus: Classic Hummus, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, and Southwest Black Bean Hummus. I also did bowls filled with pita chips, pretzel crisps, and a plate with pieces of naan bread. Plus a veggie tray, fruit plate, and dessert. We started with some munching while everyone arrived. And I asked everyone to lay out their accessories.
Once everyone was at the party we all got to go shopping. As you can see there was plenty to choose from! Scarves, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and purses. We mixed, matched, and layered until everyone had picked out what they wanted.
Back to the food. I put everyone out on plates and in bowls and let my guests create their own delectable dishes. But there were a couple of favorites. First up, Classic Hummus Veggie Cups.
Filo dough shells filled with BUSH’S® Classic Hummus Made Easy. That’s 1 can of BUSH’S® Garbanzo Beans, drained and rinsed, with 1 package BUSH’S® Classic Hummus Made Easy. Put both items in a food processor and blend to desired consistency. (You can find all of these ingredients at Walmart!)
I piped the Classic Hummus into the cups and then topped with a cherry tomato cut in half, a small slice of cucumber, and some feta cheese. Bite-sized perfection.
Another party hit was the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Naan Appetizer. Naan bread cut into pieces and then topped with BUSH’S® Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Made Easy with Smoked Paprika and Peppers.
That’s 1 can of BUSH’S® Garbanzo Beans, drained and rinsed, with 1 package BUSH’S® Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Made Easy. To that I added 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, and 1 tablespoon mild banana pepper rings. (The banana pepper rings I bough jarred from the grocery store.) Put all of the items in a food processor and blend to desired consistency.
Spread the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus over the naan bread and top with more banana pepper rings and cut cherry tomatoes. Minimal ingredients and prep time, maximum wow factor. It’s really the combination that you want when you’re planning a party.
No gathering is complete without a few desserts. I made lemon bars dusted with powdered sugar and dark chocolate brownies. I used a flower shaped cookie cutter to cut out brownie servings.
At the end of the party there were a few items left over and everyone agreed to have me donate those items to a local charity. So not only did we get to clean our our closets and go home with new free baubles, but we also got to give back.
I highly suggest that you plan your own Accessory Swap Party with girl friends soon!
